
International Area Sales Manager – Wound Closures

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) – Wound Closures will be responsible for the sales development of our clients’ wound closure product segment across key Western European markets. In line with the strategic objectives, the ASM will drive business growth through proactive market development, distribution management, and direct sales to hospitals where relevant.
Location is in Denmark or one of the Nordic countries
Reporting to: Senior Sales Director
Key responsibilities / Task:
- Focus on direct sales in Denmark and the Nordic region, as well as distributors across Europe, with a particular focus on Western Europe (Germany, Benelux, Italy, and France)
- Develop and execute the sales strategy for the wound closure product segment in assigned territories
- Identify, establish, and maintain business relationships with distributors and key hospital customers
- Drive market penetration and awareness of VMG’s wound closure products among surgeons and hospital decision-makers
- Negotiate agreements, manage tender processes, and coordinate with internal departments to ensure optimal service
- Conduct ongoing market analysis to identify new opportunities and competitive trends
- Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and recommendations to support strategic planning
- Contribute to the formulation of VMG’s marketing and distribution strategy for the wound closure segment
Personal qualifications & skills:
- Minimum 5 years of international sales experience in wound closure products
- Proven track record from global medical device manufacturers
- Solid experience working with national distributors of surgical products in Western Europe
- Relevant academic background (e.g., Business, International Trade, Medical or Economics)
- Experience with tender processes and direct sales channels, together with the team
- Hunter-type sales personality with high energy and strong drive
- Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Independent, self-motivated, and solution-oriented
- Persistent, proactive, and resilient under pressure
- Capable of identifying opportunities and driving them to completion
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the surgical device market
- Experience working in an international environment with cross-functional collaboration
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and reporting discipline
- Fluent spoken and written Danish or another Nordic language is mandatory
- Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory
- Proficiency in German or another European language is a strong advantage
